Insurance Solutions

Our insurance solutions have been designed to cater for the various industry requirements while offering a low-cost and reliable solution.

Globally, usage-based insurance (UBI) products are starting to revolutionise the way motor insurance is packaged. The reason isn’t hard to find: they provide a win-win situation for both insurer and customer. The insurer can better manage the client risk and in doing encourage safer driving, and the responsible clients (typically the majority) enjoy a lower cost to insure. Scope has developed some of the most advanced solutions in this field and have already setup partnerships with some of the worlds leading insurance companies.

Some of the differentiating UBI features include:

  1. Easy installation: The Mhub 837 OBDII device is very easy to install (simply plug it in) and designed to interface with almost all makes of vehicle.
  2. Driver usage information: Driver distance driven as well as hours of use are captured and used for pay-as-you-drive models.
  3. Driver risk management: The MHub reads OBD data such as speed, revs and throttle levels, while a GPS unit on the device provides location and a 3 axis accelerometer measures acceleration in all 3 axes. The  utilising a proprietary pattern recognition algorithm to identify driving behaviour such as harsh braking, swerving and other aggressive manoeuvres. This data is transmitted over the cellular GSM network and combines with external data such as road type, speed limit and weather conditions to produce information for insurance analysis and rating.
  4. Solution scalability: The solution is highly scalable and can be taylored to meet the needs of the insurance company (key areas of focus) and the needs to the client (user preferences in terms of packages available). Insurers and end-users can then modify their package as their needs grow.
